On November 13, 2024, the MED-LINKS project concluded its journey with a final meeting hosted by the Université Moulay Ismaïl in Errachidia, Morocco. This milestone event brought together researchers, stakeholders, producer associations, and local experts to reflect on the project’s achievements and explore future opportunities for Mediterranean fruit and vegetable supply chains.
Highlights from the Meeting:
- Project Results Presentation: A comprehensive overview of MED-LINKS advancements, including the adoption of quality standards, innovative IT tools, and sustainable business models.
- Stakeholder Engagement: A panel discussion with the Stakeholder Advisory Board, delving into the impact of the project on small-scale producers.
- Round Table Discussions: Exploration of how MED-LINKS results can complement other initiatives and drive future research.
- Interactive Exchange: Dialogue with producer associations and stakeholders on improving competitiveness and sustainability in Mediterranean supply chains.
The event also celebrated key innovations such as the multilingual digital platform, empowering farmers to access certifications and connect with markets, and optimization processes tailored for diverse supply chain systems, including Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs), Green Public Procurement (GPP), and Export-Oriented Supply Chains (EOSCs).
Coordinated by the University of Bologna and supported by the PRIMA Partnership, MED-LINKS has been a collaborative effort among 11 partners from Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, and Morocco. The project’s mission is to empower small-scale producers with tools and strategies that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and fairness along Mediterranean fruit and vegetable supply chains.
